Our church school
St Mary's Church, BanburyOur church school
Church of England schools were founded to be a close part of the parish community that they were built to serve. Originally established as an integral extension to the local church, entry was restricted to children of parents who were regular C of E communicants as were the teachers also. Nowadays the C of E affiliated schools take children from all cultural and religious backgrounds. Church schools to this day nevertheless still have very close links to the local Parish church (in the past they were often built next door to each other!) and the children are encouraged in their moral and spiritual development as well as their scholastic.

Family friendly church services at St Mary's
Once a month the 9.30am service takes the form of an All-age Communion, with the Adventurers (St Mary's Church Sunday School) joining us for the whole service, the Junior Choir singing and children and young people taking a full part in the service; our band replaces the organ, and we use one of the shorter Eucharistic prayers recently authorised for use with young people.

Pause for prayer
St Mary’s School has a prayer box (located outside Mrs Woods’ office) where children, their families, staff and Governors can submit a prayer request to be read at the Friday Pause for Prayer meeting at St Mary’s Church. The requests are collected each week by Reverend Lynda.
