Kingfishers - Year 1: Who Am I?
Our topic this term is 'Who Am I?' We have been learning all about the human body and started to explore our senses.

We have been busy creating bubbles all about ourselves this week as part of our 'Who Am !?' topic. Some of us used photographs of family, friends or our favourite things. We also used our favourite coloured card and paper as well as drawing anything we liked!

This week we have explored our sense of hearing and touch as part of our Who Am I topic. In English we went on a sound walk around school to see what different sounds we could hear. We made sound walk books which included a drawing of each sound we heard.

We have also explored our sense of touch. We created sensory hands with a variety of materials. The children really enjoyed using a range of materials and discussing how each material felt. In our English lesson we used our sensory hands to create sentences to describe how different materials feel.

This week we have looked at sight. We discussed why we need our eyes and looked closely at our eyes. We used magnifying glasses to look at items around the classroom to see if they made a difference to our sight. We found that we could see things much more close up and see small details we had not noticed before. We then used mirrors to look closely at our own eyes to help us draw and paint detailed pictures, thinking about the colours and shape.
